Wellington Phoenix vs Auckland City FC So....call it fate but somehow after spending six months away from home living in the UK 🇬🇧 I ended up timing my return home with the inaugural kiwi clasico; New Zealand's very first domestic football derby 😱😍 For years Wellington Phoenix has been New Zealand's only professional team in the A-League but after a few failed attempts over the years, Auckland is back for the 2024-2025 season with a brand new franchise, Auckland City FC and they are here to play having gone unbeaten in their first games. What an exciting time for New Zealand Football. ⚽️ As a proud Wellingtonian, I donned my jersey, shook off the jet lag and headed down to Sky Stadium to see if my home team could etch their names into history as the winners of the first match of its kind to be held here in Aotearoa!
